Reinventing the Scan and Collect Experience for Bricks and Mortar Store

The Barcode Scanning App for BigCommerce streamlines checkout processes for brick-and-mortar stores by allowing users to scan product barcodes or enter SKUs directly. It reduces the need for manual searches, saves time, minimises errors, and eliminates the necessity of a physical POS system, enhancing overall efficiency and customer satisfaction. Following were the key challenges faced by the client.

  • + Time-consuming manual product searches
  • + Self checkout for large orders
  • + Pull products from the past orders
  • + Rapid Fast barcode scanning

Project Goals

1. Streamline Checkout Process The primary goal was to enhance the checkout process because manually searching and entering product details was time-consuming and inefficient. By implementing barcode scanning capabilities, we aimed to significantly reduce the time needed for these tasks, enabling faster and more accurate transactions. This improvement was designed to speed up the checkout process and elevate the overall customer experience in both online and physical stores.
 2. Reducing Operational Errors Our goal was to reduce operational errors because manual entry mistakes were causing discrepancies in inventory and checkout processes. By automating product identification through barcode scanning and SKU entry, we sought to improve data accuracy and decrease checkout errors. This automation was intended to ensure a smoother and more reliable operation for store owners and staff.
 3. Enhance Multi-Store Operations We aimed to simplify store management because managing multiple POS systems across various locations was complex and costly. By integrating the app seamlessly with BigCommerce stores, we focused to provide a centralised system that would eliminate the need for multiple POS systems. This centralisation was meant to enhance synchronisation of product data, streamline operations, and reduce the complexity and costs associated with managing separate systems, leading to more efficient store management.
